Whispered Sins is a solid perfume with a low voice — earthy patchouli underneath, something creamy and lactonic through the middle, and florals lifting off the top. Soft up close, darker from a step away.

Why you'll love it

  • Earthy, creamy, quietly floral — patchouli supplies the depth, the lactonic note rounds it into something milky and skin-like, and the florals keep the whole thing from turning heavy.
  • Unfolds instead of arriving — wax and carrier oil melt at body temperature, so the blend opens over several minutes rather than hitting all at once.
  • Placed, not sprayed — fingertip application onto pulse points means nothing drifts onto clothes or hair, and nobody else in the room gets a share.
  • Pocket-sized and leak-proof — the balm sits in a slim slide-top metal tin, so there is no glass to break, no pump to jam, and nothing to seep into a handbag.
  • No alcohol on the skin — the base is oil and wax only, so it skips the sharp, drying pinch a spray can leave behind.

Key ingredients

  • Wax base — gives the balm its solid form and melts at skin temperature, releasing the patchouli slowly instead of all at once.
  • Carrier oil — carries the fragrance and leaves a light conditioning film, so the balm glides on rather than dragging.
  • Essential oil — the naturally extracted part of the blend, responsible for the floral lift you notice first.
  • Fragrance oil — holds the creamy lactonic centre steady long after the florals have quietened down.

The full ingredient list is printed on the tin.

Who it's for

Unisex, and worn well by anyone from their teens upward — patchouli has never belonged to one gender. Fine on all skin types. As with any fragrance, patch test a small amount on the inner forearm and wait 24 hours before wearing it on the neck.

How to use

  1. Slide the lid open and press a fingertip into the balm for a second or two to warm it.
  2. Swipe onto pulse points — inner wrists, behind the ears, the base of the throat.
  3. Press the scent in rather than rubbing it; rubbing breaks the top notes.
  4. Reapply once through the day if you want it to carry into the evening.
  5. Slide the lid shut after use and keep the tin out of direct sunlight. For external use only; avoid contact with the eyes.

FAQ

Q1. How long does the scent last on skin?

Longer than you would expect from a 10 g balm. The fragrance is held in wax and oil rather than in solvent, so it does not flash off in the first ten minutes — it warms up slowly and stays close to the skin. Press a little more behind the ears if you want it to carry into the evening.

Q2. Is this too strong for the office?

Not if you apply it lightly. Patchouli has a reputation for carrying, but a solid balm places the scent instead of spraying it into the air, so it stays within arm's length. One swipe on the wrists is plenty for a workday.

Q3. How long will a 10 g pack last?

Roughly two to three months of daily wear, on the basis that one wearing takes a single fingertip swipe across two or three pulse points. Reapplying through the day will get you through it faster.

Q4. Does it contain alcohol?

No. The base is wax and carrier oil only, which is why it goes on as a balm rather than a spray and does not leave the tight, cold feeling a spray can.

Q5. What does lactonic mean in the notes?

Lactonic describes a soft, creamy, milky character — the smell of warm skin rather than of a flower or a fruit. Here it sits between the patchouli and the florals and rounds off the earthiness.
